Marriage George Elliott/Elizabeth Simons

I am hoping someone can find the marriage between

George Elliott B1827, Hawksworth, Leics and

Elizabeth Simons Abt 1843 (East?)Bridgford, Notts or Leics.

Their first daughter, as far as I know, was born in 1865.

Any help would be appreciated.

Back in 1851, at Clawson, she's with her grandfather - mother Alice is unmarried -shout for details

Thanks Tati, I have had a look at that census and the 1851 too. The story in the family is that there was some mystery surrounding Elizabeth Simons, who obviously wasn't the daughter of George Julian. Born out of wedlock?

Is it possible you could look up the birth of Elizabeth Simons (born 1843/44) and/or her baptism, then I should be able to send for a birth certificate and see if her father was named. As you have found her middle name to be Hardy, that might also be a clue, as I know from other ancestors who had their fathers surname as a middle name, when their mothers didn't marry them, if you see what I mean.

Hello again Tati, I wonder if I could trouble you again and ask you to find the marriage of George Julian B1824 Hose, Notts and Alice Simons B1825 Long Clawson, Leics. I hope they did get married!

My cousin would like to send for a copy of their marriage certificate too.

In the same quarter, with the same references but registration district Shepton M, which must be a mistake! - there's a George Julian. Unfortunately, the page number is not much clearer! Id' say 355 but 353 is still possible. Maybe someone else can have a look
