Can anyone help please.
Its a long complicated life story but trying to locate my Gt Gt Grandmothers movements during period around 1871 - 1883. Cannot find her in the Kirkpatrick Durham, Stewartry or Dumfries-shire 1871 or 1881 Census's though I have located her mother Grace and son John with whom she had been living in 1861 Census. I have found John in the 1881 Census on his own. However in 1883 I found her marrying William Irvine Nicholson, with both giving an address in the High Street, Dumfries. Agnes died the following year in 1884.
From her death cert I know she suffered from the modern equivalent of stress/depression for at least 8yrs.
Two questions
Would people in hospital or similar establishment be included in the Census?
Besides hospital would there be any other establishment looking after the stressed/depressed etc., either in the Stewartry or Dumfries areas?
Thanks
Ian

Thanks Joe,
Brilliant, though wonder why it didn't come up during my searches. Just the job and thanks again.
