Family Legend William Barrow
« on: Wednesday 17 October 07 09:39 BST (UK) »
I've been trying to prove a family legend that we are related to a William Barrow who was an able seaman on the Victory in the Battle of Trafalgar. I've managed to find a Charlotte Barrow born 1818 Maidstone Kent.  She has a brother William and calls her son William so William is in the family but can't make any direct link with the William  on the Victory.  Anyone know more about the William on the Victory?

Thanks I had most of that detail except that he was from Lewisham.  Trouble is Barrow is not an uncommon name in Kent and I don't have any Barrows from Lewisham in my family.  Charlotte married a Startup and they called their son Victor seemingly in honour of the Trafalgar Barrow. I can't see him as a grandfather as the dates don't mix.  Maybe they just meant a distant relative was involved.
