Jesima PRICK
« on: Friday 19 October 07 22:01 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,
I am looking for information on Jesima Prick, she married Thomas Hazelwood in Herringswell on 29 MAY 1792, they had 10 children all born in Herringswell, however its Jessima that I can find nothing more about.
If anyone has come across a family of this name around that time I would be greatful for any information

Jessima HAZELWOOD
age 73, buried 3 May 1845
in Herringswell

[Source: Suffolk Burials Index]

1841 Herringswell, Suffolk
HO 107/1027/9 folio 7 page 8
Thomas Hazelwood, 70, ind, Y
Jessima do., 68, Y

So, the most we can say is that she was born about 1773 and (apparently) in Suffolk.

The Suffolk Burials Index indicates that her maiden name was not that uncommon. But there is only one entry in Herringswell (James Prick, buried12 June 1748, age unknown) which makes me think that she came from elsewhere.

Have you checked the marriage register/banns? This will tell you where she was living in 1792 and witness names may also provide a clue.

Can't help with Jesima, but the two PRICKs I have in my tree are both Suffolk:

Sarah Prick, born c. 1748 Bury St Edmunds, died 1789 Bury St Edmunds, married Ralph Guest 26 Jan 1769 St Mary's, Bury St Edmunds.

Her parents were Nathaniel Prick (born c. 1715) and Jane Jones (born c. 1706), married around 7 Sep 1736

That Nathaniel Prick is my great x6 grandfather.

Hi Aulus
Many thanks for your information, it may be that Jessima was connected to this family, but until I can get to Suffolk records office to see if the marriage banns give any other information I wont know.
I could well be in touch again.
Thanks
