im trying to find out more about the isaacs family,who wre known to be in london...islington area.We are stuck over the name ESTER ISAACS who was male,he had a son my the name BENJAMIN.d..o.b.roughly 1791.At htis time ester was a
approx 50 years old and a clothes dealer. We are unsure wether the name and spelling of ESTER is correct. Any info welcome. ACKY.

hello, Acky,

The 1841 census has definitely indexed this name as Ester, I have looked at the original image in two different sites.   It is feint & poorly written & on enlarging this as much a possibe without distorting it too much it could read either Esher or Asher.

I think this answers your query.

Asher =Male name

Meaning  = happy

Origin = Hebrew
