« on: Thursday 25 October 07 16:07 BST (UK) »
Could anyone check 1861/1851 Census for Arnold Notts please...

I'm trying to find William Peck b. abt 1847 and his family.

Any clues/advice welcomed.

With thanks

Knellie, do you know his father's name as there are several candidates?

Baptised at Arnold....

William Peck 12/02/1847 to William and Esther

William Peck 31/08/1846 to Richard and Ruth

William 07/11/1847 to George Sulley and Sarah Peck (was illegitmate and therefore may also have gone by the surname Peck on reaching adulthood)
This couple married at Arnold 01/04/1850

In 1851 there are indeed 3 William Pecks born Arnold 1846/7.

If the family found by Treelover is the right one, I'll post up some more baptism details (source Notts FHS baptism index)

Many thanks Joan & Heather for info. - now spoilt for choice ::)

I had a reference for William & Esther as parents of a William bapt 29 Sept 1844 & death on 30th November 1845 so thought it was probably them :-\

However I will try to track down his marriage for further clues - and try to clarify his dad's name.

In 1871 he was a lodger - later husband (marriage 1878)! Maybe I should check what their children were called - there's a William no doubt :D

Had another look and I also favour William and Esther on balance of probabilities! The William c.1847 who was married to Catherine by 1871 named a daughter Ruth and the William born to George Sulley and Sarah Peck appears to have retained the Sulley surname... but I wouldn't be happy to accept that without the marriage cert.

Baptism dates at Arnold for children of William and Esther Peck

12/04/1835 Sarah
29/09/1844 William
11/03/1846 Ann
12/02/1847 Mary and William
04/09/1850 Rebecca
10/10/1852 Samuel

All the best, Heather
(must give Ruddington a visit some time as my tree is riddled with FWK's!)
