Les and Mabel Dobson - when do you think this was taken?

I wonder if our Aussie cousins can give me an idea for the date of this photograph?  I think it could possibly be 1936 when Mabel travelled out to Adelaide on her own to meet her husband Les and settle down in South Australia.  I am sure that is a ship in the background so maybe they had photographers waiting to snap people as they disembarked or perhaps I'm just being fanciful?

it looks like a ship to me, and the date, 1936, looks right for what they are wearing.
