Hi Mike,

I've been looking as well and can't find any mention of them....it's quite possible that they didn't have the money to pay to register the births, see http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/hlpsrch/opr.html

Also, the registers are from the established Church...the Church of Scotland. Members of other churches such as the Roman Catholic Church and the Free Church might not have been recorded.

It may be that the Kirk Sessions are the only way to go.

Hi. I have just discovered that I am descended from Andrew Mitchell, son of Andrew and Isobel Keith. I see that Martha Panton was on the 1841 census living with Andrew and Isobel at Ramsburn. Her age is given as 60 but that census gives rounded up/down ages. Her place of birth is Scotland so probably not Banffshire.

On 30th May 1824 in Forgue, John Mitchell, servant in Drumdollo (?) married Mary Panton, daugter of James Panton in Auchentender. Very possibly Mary became Martha.

Yes, Drumdollo will be right enough.
