BBC Teletext
« on: Friday 02 November 07 09:46 GMT (UK) »
I spend quite a lot of time reading the News on BBC Teletext, and the past few days,I have been a little puzzled by a new symbol that has appeared. It is in relation to amounts of money in British Pounds. It is a Capital A with a dot at the top,and it appears just before the £ sign. Can anyone enlighten me as to this sign, and any significance it may have?

It has puzzled me as well.
The little dot is actually a ^ mark, But I still don't know what they are playing at.

I wonder what the A could possibly stand for?

I've come across this before on another forum. Is it something to do with the ASCI code for £  on non GB keyboards  :-\

Maybe they've changed their equipment.

JoMc

You're joking, of course!   ;D

You'll need a Master's Degree to make sense of that.  Or at least an "-ology" in something or other! ::)
