Are you sure it was 1962 - I can't think of anyone wearing those clothes then and I was 17  ::) ::) ::)

The daughter's shoes look very 1950's to me...

The whole thing is early - mid 1950s. They were wearing stilletos and pointy toes in 1962!

I can only go by photos of my mum and aunty in the early 50's and they would certainly have worn those cloths and my nan had a spotty outfit like that! though she would have worn the sandles  ;D

My cousin got married in 1951 and my Mum had a suit a bit like that for the wedding.

I really do think that the 1962 date is 10 years out. Unless Australia was way behind  :-\

Just remembered something about the full skirts.
My mum was also born 1932 and I remember she said that as a teenager she wore the full skirts...
I did fashion at college in the 70s and for a time, these full skirts were in fashion again so I can remember my mum mentioning that she had a skirt like that!

The new look - late 1940s to early 1950s. Those shoes as well and the hair style!

I lived through it, although I was in ankle socks!

This is fascinating!

Mother born 1893
Daughter 1932
Mother 39 when daughter born.
So if it was 1952 the daughter is only 20 and the mother is 59
I think daughter looks older.

So I shall defer to the majority and have decided on 1955!
Thank you everybody,
Abiam

Unfortunately the fashion was to look old as possible as a teenager... still is  ::) though not to look like your grandmother.
I would go for 1950 rather than 55, sorry.  Though it is possible they were a "sensible" family and didn't move with the fashions as quickly as others,
