samuel william hearnden USA to Jersey 1860

Im looking for info on my g g grandfather Samuel William Hearnden born 1857 boston USA, he's listed in 1860 as in Jersey then ended up in a Gloucestershire orphange in 187- census, via anglesea. I noticed that there were other Hearndens living in Jersey at this time and would love to know if they were his relation, or what happened to his parents as I cannot find their names, I have traced his life onwards his marriages children etc, but am really stuck on his early years.
