Mary GILCHRIST married Stanley BISHOP in 1908

I am seeking information about the family line of Mary Gilchrist who married Stanley Bishop in October - December 1908, West Ham, Essex.
Can anyone give me some parents for her - all I have is a note saying that Oban, Scotland features in the Gilchrist family.
I have put this on the Essex board as that is where she was married and she lived in Engineer Road, Woolwich to the time of her death which was after 1955. Her husband Stanley was in the Seaforth Highlanders and then in the Royal Artillery based in Woolwich and he died in 1936.
This is not much information, but I am hopeful,

Hi Robin,

A copy of the marriage certificate will, hopefully, show the name and occupation of Mary's father.  Using that info you could look for Mary and her father (mother/siblings?) on 1901 census which will show birthplaces (not always accurate!).

 If Mary's mother is on 1901 census you might be able to find that marriage certificate and track the Gilchrist line back.

A quick look at 1901 census shows a Mary Gilchrist, aged 18 and born in Scotland, working as a domestic servant in West Ham.  Could this be your lady?
