Sorry no photographs but some info

Groups of houses in Old Monkland Parish occupied mostly by miners, but not belonging to any mine-owner
Pender's Row Baillieston (45 to 67 Buchanan Street)
12 Two-apartment houses Rental £6 12s

Single storey, stone built - Erected about 100 years ago - no damp-proof course - Plastered on solid - Wood floors, ventilated - internal surface of walls and ceilings fairly good

No overcrowding - kitchens fair size but back rooms small
Garden ground available but not cultivated - no wash houses - no coal cellars
One open privy midden at rear of houses
Sinks in each houses, with gravitation water
Drainage to main sewer, within special district
Scavenged occasionally at owners' expense

Notes on Pender's Row - Now in special Scavenging District

Have a wee look here:

http://www.mitchelllibrary.org/virtualmitchell/index.php

There are various ways to search so you just might find something on the areas you're looking for and if not, it's a really handy site to keep in your favourites.

Anne

P.S. If you key in 'miners row' in the search field, quite a few images of Baillieston come up

I don't have the photpgraphs but these YouTube videos will be of interest to you I hope.

Search www.youtube.com for Bygone Tannochside
4 parts to the film packed with images of the Tannochside Raws.

Hope you enjoy it.
