Oxfrodshire Census Lookup Please!
« on: Thursday 30 December 04 14:09 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone do a lookup on the earliest Oxfordshire Census?
I am looking for members of the Talbot family living in Clifton Hampden, Oxfordshire as early as possible...

I know that Robert TALBOT married Ruth FRUIN in 1807 in Clifton Hampden; I have traced all of their children, but am trying to find out more about their parents.

Thanks very much! :)

The earliest census that means anything is 1841!
you appear to be beyond that and are now in the realms of the parish records at the Oxfordshire history centre

                         OR

Try a post in the Oxfordshire section for Parish Records of Talbot's at Clifton Hampden, Oxfordshire....you never know, someone out there might have transcribed them?

Researching names BRYANT (Camberwell), PASTERFIELD (Essex and all), RAY (Holborn/Islington areas back to Brentford), POWELL (Glouc & beyond?)
Fletcher (Glouc into Warwickshie into Lancs?), BUCKLEY (Chatham area), Watson (Chatham area).

Hi Bryant,

Thanks for that - do you know if Robert and Ruth Talbot were on the 1841 Census, would it give information such as their address / occupation / age...?  Any of that information would be of interest!

Thanks for your help!

The 1841 census will give ages, although the enumerator will round down or up to the nearest 5 depending on guessamate of occupants age by the enumerator......that is only if the occupants dont know how old they are!
The address would probably be Clifton Hampden (no street/road names) and where born would be.....In County by the form of a Y....or out of County in the form of a N....if they was born in Scotland or Ireland, it would possibly be in the form of S or I.

And i'm sorry to say that I don't have the 1841 Oxfordshire census.

Clifton Hampden doesn't sound that big a place? because you are relying on someone doing a manual trawl!

Try a new post for the 1841 census and another one in the Oxfordshire section for the burials index/Parish records for the names of  Talbot & Fruin around the area of Clifton Hampden, Oxfordshire...and keep your fingers crossed
