Occupations as described in censuses
« on: Thursday 30 December 04 15:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I wondered if anyone knows how to find out what a Warehousewoman Cutler would have done/been? This is the given profession of one of my ancestors but I don't know what a 'Cutler' would have done?

As she came from Sheffield, I'm assuming its something to do with Sheffield Steel and the cutlery they made etc, but I wondered if there was a site that gave definitions of various professions as I have some other ancestors with seemingly strange occupations that I don't understand.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
