Any guesses where & when this was taken?
« on: Friday 16 November 07 15:59 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

This picture has puzzled me for years.  My father told me it was cousins in Ireland.  Well, after 7 or 8 years or research, I haven't found a hint of anyone Irish!!  However, I have found ancestors who ventured across to Canada & wondered if this could've been taken there?  I've no idea when either, so any ideas would be most welcome.  I THINK I know who one of the gentlemen was, but not entirely sure.

Debbie :)

Hi Debbie - what a great picture.  They look very pleased with their haul of rabbits!

It has the feeling of Ameria/Canada rather than Ireland doesn't it?

Did you notice the chap on the left seems to have some kind of badge on his lapel... Perhaps one of the photo restoration wizzards can get a better look at it.  It might be something military which would be helpful.

Hi Milly,

No!  I've looked at it a million times over the years & didn't see the badge once LOL!!!  Isn't it great though?  I love it.  A few years ago I read up on materials used in Ireland to build this type of property & it would more likely be peat than wood.

Oh well, fingers crossed someone knows more than me ;)

The gun may help to date and place it too...The military buffs can tell all sorts from that!!
