I am looking for the father (also called James) of James Savory christened at Witney St Mary’s on 4 Jan 1751.I have looked on PR’s for Cogges, Curbridge, Eynsham, Hailey and Witney but no luck. His mothers name was Ann who was buried at Witney St Mary’s on 6 June 1769.

It's not quite clear if you already have the marriage of James's parents (James and Ann), but I can confirm that there is nothing "suitable" on the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837).

(There's only one James SAVO(U)RY/Ann marriage on the index, but that is not until 1776.)

Hi Thanks for that.I have found the christening of James Savory as 4 Jan 1751 S of James and Anne, on my OFHS Witney Registration District Vol 1 Disc.Unfortunately no marriage that is why I was wondering if this would be in another parish?
Have you any ideas.

Have you found any baptisms for siblings of James jnr. at Witney?
Have you found James snr.'s burial at Witney?
Are there any gaps in the Witney PRs (should be detailed on the opening page)?

You could try having a search done for any James SAVORYs on the Oxfordshire Baptism Index (which may give you some leads to follow for the surname).
