Hi Elton

Do you already have him in 1861?
Think he is Lodging  in Willenhall Staffs age 26, and is showing as a widower?

Cheers

Hi,

Is that Thomas Appleby or John Appleby 1834c ? John married in 1862,so he was married before he married Maria Dean ?

Janice.

Hi Janice

Sorry I was referring to John...... ;D

Also, just to add - The 1841 Census, shows they (John's possible birth family) were specifically in the Township of Oslaston (Osleston) & Thurvaston, Sutton on The Hill. The registration District covering is Burton on Trent.

Info here:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DBY/SuttonontheHill/index.html

1861: WIllenhall Holy Trinity, Staffordshire
Ref: RG9/ Piece 2001 /  Folio 116 /  Pg 7
Address: New Oven?tron
Head: Andrew WILLOCK?  59,  Hay Maker, b Willenhall
Wife: Agnes WILLOCK? 57, b Willenhall
Dau: Emma WILLOCK? 14, Scholor, b Willenhall
/
Lodger: James HAWKES 69, unm, Labourer, b Snares?hill, Staffs
Lodger: Edward LOCKEY 36, unm, Lock Maker, b Willenhall
Lodger: John APPLEBY 26, widr, Labourer, b Sutton on Hill, Derby

The registration district for WIllenhall is Wolverhampton.

FREEBMD marriages:
Marriages Dec Qtr 1858   - 6b 498 - Burton on Trent
2 Brothers marrying 2 sisters?

Appleby  - John
Appleby -  Thomas
Ault -  Alice
Ault -  Hannah

Think Thomas is John's younger brother per the Census posted by Heather - and he and ALice moved to Liverpool, on most Census there he says born Thorpe abt 1838 - but on one it says Sutton.

Hannah  maybe  the Hannah APPLEBY died Mar Qtr 1861 Wolverhampton - in which case John is very newly widowed on the 1861 Census, poor lad.

Cheers
