Hi Edwin,

Was his birthplace Colwall rather than Ledbury?

If so then he's at RG10/2681 86 6 in 1871 (not much help with parents - he's a lodger somewhere)
Shout if you don't have access  :)

Well ... searching the 1851 census for possible parents I see a John and Mary A at HO107/1975 58 11. In 1861, what seem to be the same family, including a Simeon age 10, are called Laurence RG9/1808 69 29

Have a look and tell me what you think  :)

Have you actually considered buying the cert. to prove who his parents are?

There has to come a time when you buy the cert. to prove anything in Genealogy.

Good luck.

Hello!

I'm not sure if this might bring any light onto your research but I may have some relatives of yours on my family tree too.

My great-great... grandfather John Davis came from Colwall; his eldest sister Harriet (whon wasn't actually born there, but certainly lived there) married George Lissiman, and they had at leats two children called John Lissiman (b. 1828) and Anne Lissiman (b.1834). George Lissiman's parents were John Lissiman and Sarah (maiden name unknown for the moment). George was born in 1802 and may have had a twin brother called James, and a younger sister called Anne (b.1805). I'm not sure how they fit in your family tree but it seems possible we share some relatives in common.

No idea if John and/or Anne had descendants.

Best regards,

Cimbrio
