i,m trying to find a john barrett?barratts birth place,i think he was born in knutsford to a john and mary barrett/barratt who were from ireland,he was born about 1884,hoping someone out there can help,tony

So that we know what's fact and what's family story..

When and where is the first confirmed sighting of this chap? (whether it be census, birth or marriage/death). Last thing we want is to start chasing the wrong man..

hello pauline,he first appears on the 1991 census as being born in knutsford but by then he,s living in sale cheshire with his mother and younger sister as lodgers and there,s no father,thats about all i know,hoping this helps

 in 1901 the only one I can see with that geography is aged 14y so b 1887 (or so).

If this is the correct family found for you by Pauline, then there  is a marriage on cheshirebmd.org.uk  site between a Mary Barrett and a Thomas Foy in 1894 ALT/17/37

Hi Tony,
I do not know if you have there birth certificates yet but I found a couple of births that may be the correct ones.
On the cheshirebmd site is a birth for a Mary Ann Barratt Altrincham Trafford ALT/66/75 1887
A possibility for John could be this one under the name Patrick( as he was down on the 1891 census as John Patrick) Barratt Knutsford Cheshire East KNU/21/62 1882

In 1891 John Patrick Barrett is age 9 with his Mother Mary and sister Mary Ann age 3.
They are living at 12 Egerton St Sale and in 1901 they are living at 51 Egerton St Sale
