can anyone help with these irish ancestors?
« on: Saturday 24 November 07 17:10 GMT (UK) »
i was born and bred british but my husbands parents were irish. i know nothing of ireland and he was born in london. but we are pretty sure that his grandparents were born in Meath in ireland. can anyone help?
they were William Mccarthy and his wife Margaret. and on the other side John and Ann Connolly. not much to go on i know. my husbands father was born in 1928 and we havnt spoken to him in years as we fell out. but he was brought up by his grandparents as his parents died when he was 6 months old if thats any help.his siblings were John, Pat, Noel, and Margaret.  that would be the Connollys. his mother was also born in 1928 and was brought up by her elder sister too but there were 11 children of which 2 boys died. siblings are Margaret, Danny, William, Tim, Michael and Lily who was the eldest and is 90 odd now if she is still alive. that is the McCarthys and we are pretty sure they came from Cork.
anyone got any ideas?
