His Grandfather was also a John Merryman Moore an Excise Officer born in Winchcomb, Glos. Most of his family were in fashion, his son Edwin became a successful tailor in Reading I think Moore & Sons. Thanks for the welcome,  It was thanks to the BBC's tracing your roots programme that I was able to discover your site. With regards to the Moore family I thought I'd just post a request for any information, ie photographs even Nineteenth Century possibly showing a Staymaker business in Wallingford. Thanks  ;D :)

Hi again

Have you tried contacting the admin of this site?

http://www.wallingfordmuseum.org.uk/index.html

There is also information on www.historicaldirectories.org that will help to narrow down the years that your family were in business in Wallingford.

By a process of accumulating certificates you will also get a clearer picture of their occupations at any one time.

I take it you have census returns for them?

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

p.s. Tracing your Roots is certainly topic of the moment here!  :D
