Trying to locate Grt grandfathers family..surname Lough..Grt grandfather James married in Glasgow Scotland marriage certificate states his father was William Lough Estate Manager/mother Susanna Coulter/Colter.....have tried the tithes and Griffith's but no luck.......i have been told that the Lough's in the Cavan area could have been cousins .grt grandfather James signed the Covenant in Glasgow  and his address  as Clones also 1881 Census Monaghan is stated as place of birth any help would be most grateful

Hi,

It looks as though the Lough family were either Presbyterians or Established Church (Anglican/Church of Ireland). Confirmation regarding which branch of the Christian faith they followed may enable a little more progress to be made.

hi Christopher I will have to go to the local LDS Family History centre and try and spend some time there sometimes it's hard trying to work and do this stuff but i absolutely love it ..thanks

I know it was some time ago that you posted this. Did you find information. I think my Great grandfather George was the brother of your Gr Grandfather James.

James Lough was the brother of my Great Grandfather George Lough. George Lough lived in Cavan for some time as Station Master at one point. Had several children in Cavan Including my Grandmother before coming over to Pollokshaws.

James was a younger brother of George Their Father was William lough mother Susanna/Susan Coulter....Williams father was Thomas Lough mother ???? Blakeley. sorry could'nt remember her Christian name offhand..my grandfather was the youngest son of James Lough
