Family Tree Maker 2006 Designs
« on: Saturday 01 December 07 16:57 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I have put all my family tree information into Family Tree Maker 2006 and I want to print it out. But the templates don't look like what I want. I  want it to look like the Decendant - standard layout but I want all the people on my tree to show up (e.g. spouses parents) as well (Ancestor layout). Is there anyway to put these together or another program that can do this?
Thank you.

All programmes have some limitations but the layouts possible on FTM are one of the reasons I don't use it anymore.
What I use now is a simple-to-use programme called GenoPro which came on a disk free with Family Tree Magazine. I can put in families and include anyone I want (spouses relatives or even unrelated people- in case they do turn out to be connected at a later date). I use Word to write up my families and then add scanned photographs/documents, etc. as I want.
There might be other suggestions of what people have tried and are happy/unhappy using.

FTM does have a chart that shows everyone including the spouses ancestors called All-in-One-Tree.

Click on the Tree Charts icon and select All-in-One-Tree.

I have tried GenoPro and it was great, just annoyed that it puts the age in a box or circle instead of having all the info inside like a normal family tree.
Nevermind.
Thank You

There are other ways to fill in the information to get details to appear where you want them. Sometimes I use 1st name box for complete name and use other name boxes to fill in dates so that all appears on tree.

Yes, go to 'View' and make sure 'display age' is not ticked.

I cannot see this option in the view menu nor the display option. Could you tell me exactly where I can find it?
