Thomas & Sarah Ann BARRETT - Census returns
« on: Saturday 01 December 07 19:06 GMT (UK) »
Good evening,

I'm anxious to find more information about the above household.

Thomas BARRETT was born c1802 in Clerkenwell, Middlesex.
Sarah Ann (not sure of her maiden name - maybe RUST) was apparently born c1808 in Salisbury.

They lived in Colchester, and were most likely there in 1841 (I have no details for this one)
In 1851 they apparently had 4 kids, all born in Colchester:
- Thomas b. 1839, Sarah Jane, b. 1843, George b. 1845, Alfred b. 1848

I have them again in 1861, with no details of occupation, but this time they seem to be in Clerkenwell.

I would very much like to know if anyone can help with the 1841 and 1851 Censuses, most likely in Colchester.

Many thanks to anyone who might be able to asist.

Thank you once again ! This is indeed rapid service !

Can I ask what "yes" and "no" means after the names in the 1841 Census ?

Would it be too much to ask if you could find the same household in 1871 ?
I'd be much obliged !

Thanks for your help,

Nick

Morning Nick  :)

In 1841, 'yes' = born in county ; 'no' = not born in county

I can't see either Thomas or Sarah Ann in 1871  :(

Good morning,

You're at the keyboard early today ! Many thanks for your very useful tips and information. I'm on a steep learning curve, as I only got hooked on this game this year !

I had a feeling that maybe Thomas and Sarah weren't around in 1871. I haven't as yet found their dates of death.

I'd dearly like to find Sarah's maiden name. I've got a couple of possibilities, but they appear to me too far afield.

Any tips on the best way to go about trying to find the info ?

Best,

Nick

Yes! You can order the birth certificate for one of the children  :D

I can see for instance

Sarah Jane Barret
March quarter 1843
Colchester registration district
Volume 12 page 62

Alfred John Barrett
Dec 1847
Colchester 12 58
