Death registers for Fyfield/tubney area
Hi,
I’m looking for the death of Robert Simpson (simson etc) which might give me an age with which I can find his birth as without this I'm stuck.
Robert married Martha Buckingham in 1787 and had 5 children
Betty (1788) William (1791), James (1793) Hannah (1796) and Barnett (1798). The first child was baptized in Besselsleigh and the other 4 were all baptised in Fyfield. I presume Robert popped his clogs in Fyfield or Tubney. I live in italy and so research is getting costly. Anybody out there able to give a hand?

Regards

PB

Hi - and welcome to Rootschat

I have checked the registers for Fyfield - and at that date Tubney would come under Fyfield, but there are no Sim(p)son burials at all,  I did find son Barnet's marriage in 1822,  so it looks as though they were still in the area,  unfortunatly Robert was not a named witness at the marriage so no clues as to if he was still alive or not.  Where did he marry?

 :)

Hi Debbie,
Wow, that was quick, I haven't finished my coffee yet! Thanks for the welcome.
Robert and martha were married in Abingdon St. Nicholas but then within a year moved to Besselsleigh where they baptised their first child. But then the rest of their documented lives was spent in F&T. Robert on the marriage entry was described as "from Buckland" though there is no record of his birth there. Unfortunately Robert Simpson is a common name.
The witnesses at Barnet's wedding were his brother and wife. I've always wondered if this was significant in some way.
Cheers
