CARD Family
« on: Monday 03 December 07 05:44 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am in Australia hoping someone could please help me out with an enquiry.
I believe an Abraham Card (F: Willam Card, M: Marry ???) was born in "Rodney Stoke" Somersetshire in 1825. He travelled to Australia where he married an Eliza Baldock and had a son Abraham Henry Card.
I was hoping if anyone had any information whatsoever on any of the mentioned people here. It would be most appreciated.

This could be Abraham's father's death
William Card
Wells mar qtr 1841
Volume: 10
Page: 357

no way of knowing for sure without buying the cert or looking at the parish records as it doesn't give ages on the BMD indexes this early.

Thanks for the help JC. Many of the things you have here helped. This is where things stand now:

WILLIAM CARD was born 1781, and died in Rodney Stoke .  He married MARY EVANS, daughter of JAMES EVANS and MARY.  She was born Bet. 1790 - 1791 in Draycott , and died in Draycott.

WILLIAM CARD:
Died 2: Aged 59
Baptism: 29 April 1781, Rodney Stoke
Burial: 7 January 1841, Rodney Stoke
Occupation 1: Bet. 1813 - 1833, Labourer of Rodney Stoke
Occupation 2: 15 June 1842, Labourer
Occupation 3: 9 April 1868, Yeoman
Residence: Bet. 1810 - 1811, Rodney Stoke
Tithe: 28 February 1839, Owner and occupier of two cottages & c. (22P, 1s rent, number 1 on map) in Rodney Stoke SOM

More About MARY EVANS:
Died : Aged 71
Baptism: 25 December 1791, Cheddar SOM
Burial 1: 4 August 1862, Rodney Stoke SOM
Census: 1841, Aged 45, Agricultural Labourer's widow, living with family in Rodney Stoke
Census: 1851, Aged 59 (b. Rodney Stoke), widow, head of household 51 (as 'Mary Dove') in the hamlet of Draycott, Rodney Stoke
Census : 1861, Aged 70 (b. Cheddar), Labourer's widow, living with son Edward and family (as 'Marey') in cottage, Draycott, Rodney Stoke
Residence: 26 December 1844, Widow, aged 53, unable to sign name, of Rodney Stoke

I also know of their other children, but in particular i am after information on  ABRAHAM CARD, b. Abt. 1825, Rodney Stoke
Baptism: 30 January 1825, Rodney Stoke
Census: 1841, Not listed with mother and siblings in Rodney Stoke SOM
Emigration: 1849, To Australia, on board the 'Petrel'

Is there anyway of finding where Abraham was from 1841-49 and what he was doing, or if anyone has any information what so ever about this family i would be most appreciative.
