Hi = I am also tracing the Ardill family - originating in Ireland - I beliece the name could be from Ardah.....I have also come across variations - Ardle, Ardhill. Ardall, Ardell ....... but my line came fromIrealnd in the late 1860's or early 1870's and after a brief spell oin Liverpool - moved onto Bolton.  There are also Ardill's in Leeds and London ....who may be conected - but I have not found a link yet.
