Hi Pat,

Norwich is a large area to search have you any idea who his parents were?

I know he wasn't born in 1851 but the 1851 census is name searchable and if his parents showed up then it would narrow down which part of Norwich to look in.
I can't check the 1871 for you, but if you could supply some more info I might be able to help you.

All the best Anjo

Hi
Thanks for your response.I don't know the name of Samuel's parents. I have 1851 Norfolk census CD. I am searching for him in connection with my great grandfather Arthur Chipperfield. In 1881 Arthur is shown as living with brother in law Samuel but I understand that this could also mean step brother.regards, Pat

I would also be interested in knowing Samuel (Valentine) Ecclestone's whereabouts in 1861

s.o. William.  In 1851 Samuel was an Errand Boy (aged 14) living with his parents in Stonemasons Yard, St Mary Coslany, Norwich
HO107/1812 Folio 203

Step father of Arthur Chipperfield b. 1862 Mancoft, Norwich

was a widower when he married Harriet Chipperfield Dec 25th 1864 in Thorpe, Norfolk.

Bad news I'm afraid. I couldn't find them in 1861

I tried St Ethelreda, Coslany and St John the Sculptre ( I was doing another lookup for someone so checked whilst I was there)

So unless you have some other place to try I can't be of any more help to you. So sorry,  If I ever come across them I will be sure to pass them on ok.

All the best and Good Luck. Angela

Hi

Thanks very much for this.   The additional information most appreciated.  My research area is surname Chipperfield - having come to a brick wall in my own branch of the family a couple of years back I have branched out into a 'one-name' study as I search for a lead to my missing ancestor.   Anything and everything to do with the Chipperfield family is therefore very welcome.

As far as I know I am not related to Alfred (1862).

From FreeBMD I picked up that Samuel V married again Nottingham Sep 1900.  Possible spouses: Annie Butterworth, Eliza Ann E Topham.

All the best.   And happy hunting!
