Does anyone have access to the Parish Rcords of Stanford in the Vale, formerly North Berkshire and now Oxfordshire?  I am looking for a Wise family.

Hello Abiam -

If you go to http://searches.oxfordshirefhs.org.uk/pardata.html you'll see the parish registers are transcribed and on the OFHS CD FAR01.  WISE is a fairly prevalent name in the parish - can I help get you started?

I have been given the following names and dates but there is no verification whatsoever!  I think most probably came from IGI.

George Wise b1780 & Elizabeth Kentfield b1776
from Yattendon? and Warfield Berks
married Winkfield Berks 1801

Parents of George Wise:
Thomas Wise b1756 and Sarah Bedmead b1757
both from Lambourne
married Lambourne 1778

Parents of Thomas Wise:
Thomas Wise 1733 and Mary Cox
Mary from Lambourne
married Lambourne 1751

Parents of Thomas Wise:
John b1708 and Ann Petit 1708
Thomas from Stanford in the Vale
married Stanford in the Vale 1731

Parents of John Wise:
John b1685 and Elinor Pointer b1678
Elinor from Stanford in the Vale
married St Denys Stanford in the Vale 1705

Parents of John Wise:
John b1662 and Elizabeth Bowyer b1663
Married Bray 1682?

I really don't know where to start!  There is a George Wise Yattendon with parents Thomas and Sarah from Lambourne but beyond that.......

What do you suggest I look for or buy?

John the son of John and Elenor WISE was born June the 2 and baptised June the 5 1708 whose sureties were Edward Pointer and Richard Wait, Martha Yates and Elizabeth Woodbridge
