Born 1841,Chippenham,Wiltshire.
I am looking for his parents, brothers and sisters.

Hi!

I don't know what census info you have but he is on the 1871, 1881 and 1901 censuses in Walcot, Bath, Somerset with wife Hannah and children.  Also in 1871 with "brother" (in-law?) John PICKETT.

RG11/2442 F45 P8 (1881)

RG13/2343 F123 P27 (1901)

I also looked for BMD info but no luck.  Maybe someone with VRI can help you there??

Hi Julie unable to locate any Arundels in Chippenham in 1851 so tried other places listed in 1871 entry...I see Arranroots is suggesting this John Pickett to be possibly Brother in Law....The entry does say Brother so I would wonder if perhaps Stephens father died and his mother may have remarried Pickett? Anyway this John Picketts birth says Alderton so I tried there also sadly to no avail but I did notice this entry and as I only have the transcript unfortunately cannot check the scan but I have to wonder could this possibly be a transcription error..We do have a Stephen of the right age born Chippenham with a name one could see could well be mistranscribed from Arundel. In a parish where Stephen later begins his family...It may well be worth while to request a disc look up quoting this reference just to check it out? I think there is someone with the discs so certainly worth a try I feel

Sorry should have pointed out that 1871 name has been given as ARENDALL.

The matter is further confused by the transcriber giving the place of birth as Wales, when it clearly says "Wilts, Chippenham".

Well, it is clear if you know what it SSHOULD say!!!

Anything is worth a try Julie.....U may need to order in the Chippenham Parish Records...1841 census may help of course if they r there (Dont think anyone here has that either unfortunately) And 61 would certainly be of benefit with this brother of Stephen from 71 census but again I dont beleive anyone on the Wiltshire board has that one either....I am afraid it look like a trip to the library 4 u....I am really curious to find out if this Stephen i found in 51 is him mistranscribed (I have seen a lot worse...LOL) I havent had a look yet to c if u requested a disc lookup for that one (I do think there is someone with those discs on the boards)...What I dont like is this brother in 71 lists as 20 b Alderton and yet there r no likely Picketts there even if he hasnt been born yet they should be there one would think unless he was born and they moved on which would be a nightmare in tracking him untill we get indexed 61 over the next couple of years.....I personally cant wait 4 that time to eventually locate all those I have been thusfar unable to locate...All the best with it Julie...Sorry I couldnt be of more help with it...Kris
