ww1 deaths
« on: Friday 14 December 07 11:57 GMT (UK) »
Hi folks, maybe someone can help me (one of these days I might be able to help someone in return!)

Having trouble tracing rellies killed in WW1, so I was wondering if war deaths were registered in the same way as normal deaths in the UK?

Have tried the Commonwealth War Graves website but the name is so common that hundreds of possibles turn up and I have no idea about age or regiment... it's not actually a direct relative I'm concerned with (great granny's first hubby) but it might be nice to find a date of death (and prove she wasn't a bigamist!!!).

Cheers

Hi Catwomyn

If you have any idea of birthplace/residence at time of death then "Soldiers Died" might help.  Somebody may be able to help if you give some further details ie. name/residence/birthplace if known etc. etc. or, alternatively, you can take a look here http://www.findmypast.com/WwdStartSearchServlet?product=ww1
