Many thanks Ladies for two very useful sites. Now I feel like saying "When I went to school in Ayrshire there were 12 inches to a foot, 3 feet to a yard, 220 yards to a furlong, 8 furlongs to a mile and 1,760 yards in a mile" but I won't. ;)

Hi,
for your interest.
When Andrew Wills enlisted for ww2 in 1942, his recorded date of birth was 16/7/1906.

Don't know whether the year you have given or the year on this record is the correct one.

He says born in Mourilyan  and he was living in Cairns when he enlisted there.

His Next of Kin is Frances, perhaps his wife.

Sue

Many thanks for that tip sparratt. Will now visit AWM site and see what I can gather from there. I'd probably go with his recorded date of birth. ANOTHER brick in the wall.

Many thanks again.

I have had a look  for  the  electoral roll details for Maraget McCreadie  but  not  finding  anything as yet that seem  to  match.

Mourilyan  is  actually  the  harbour  area for Innisfail  they  load  Cane on  to the ships  there.

It was  the area  hit by Cyclone Larry  last year.  We had only been up  to Innisfail  and  Mourilyan visiting fellow aviculturists.  We were so shocked to see the devastation on  the telly.  That is a rather nice are of  NQ  very green and tropical.

Re-posting to put at forefront again.

Since my original enquiry, I have discovered my McCREADIEs and these McCREADIEs were indeed related. I also discovered Andrew WILLS (d. 05 Oct 1962, Mourilyan) was a son of Alexander Adie and Jane (McCREADIE) WILLS who married 12 August 1895 in Queensland.

Andrew WILLS married Frances May RAWNSLEY (b. 03 Dec 1919) on 7 Oct 1939 in Queensland.

If possible, I would greatly appreciate any assistance to establish contact with relatives.

Many thanks.

I located an entry from a Susan Wills of Inala on the website which is sponsoring a popular genealogy programme currently showing on SBS. A letter was dispatched but unfortunately returned; the lady had departed that address about six years ago. It's reasonable to assume she is/was related to Andrew WILLS.

As I MAY be able to reach my extended family through Andrew, I'll not give up.

Thread revival, just discovered this.  I am great grandson of Alexander Adie Wills and Jane McCreadie.  Andrew Wills mentioned above is brother to my grandmother Margaret Isabella and only recently caught up with Andrew's second son, Les.

Alexander Adie and Jane are burried in the Innisfail Cemetery.  I have a photo of Jane taken in 1900.

Happy to share info Jim.

Isabella Wyatt, along with her daughter Flora, are also buried in the Innisfail Cemetery, Isabella was buried on 2 June 1910, while Flora was buried on 7 June 1911 aged 7.

Steve

edit:  date corrected to 1911 for Flora.
