Whaling in Australia & NZ - 1850's.
« on: Sunday 23 December 07 11:35 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
can anyone help me with a website (or book?) about the whaling trade in southen waters, ie; Australia & New Zealand, in the mid 1850's. My G-G-Grandfather, John Cooper, was captain of "Lady Blackwood" proir to his death in 1852. His brother-in-law, John Smith Papps, and other family members at that time were all in the whaling trade.
Cheers,
Leonie.

Happy Christmas Leonie,

The Australian National Maritime Museum website contains a list of useful sources for people searching for Seafaring Ancestors.
