Worsley in the USA
« on: Monday 31 December 07 16:53 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for my Worsley relatives born in London who emigrated to the USA.  I have Ethel May Worsley who I believe sailed on the ship Teutonic to New York in 1909 and then lived in Chumstick Valley, Leavenworth, WA.  She was followed in 1920 by her two brothers, Clarence and Digby who sailed on the Haverford in 1920 from Liverpool to Halifax.  I believe Clarence married in Las Vegas and then settled in Los Angeles.  Any information gratefully received!

There is a WWI Draft Registration card for Harold Worsley, age 27, of 3215 17th Ave. So., Seattle, Washington.  He was born Dec. 7, 1889 in Rotherithe, London, England.  He was an English citizen.  He was a machinist for Prestolite Acetylene Gas Co. in Georgetown, Seattle.  He was single and Caucasian with no military service.  He was reported to be the sole support of his mother.

Not sure if the birth date matches up with your guy, but sometimes the draft cards or the census are a bit off.

Thank you to aghadowey, Valerie and Shellyesq for the quick responses.  The 1930 census definitely shows the right family and gives me a great place to start from.  I am sure the information on Digby is the right person and is the information for Harold.  Hopefully I can track down some more info.

Thanks again!

Thanks to your help, I have now found that May Worsley married Fred L Brender in Leavenworth, Washington in 1913 and they had a son, Clarence Leonard Worsley Brender in 1914.  May and Clarence are shown on the 1930 US census in Los Angeles.

A few updates on this search.  Looking for any descendants of the Worsley brothers: Clarence (Charles) who married at least 3 times (Las Vegas and twice in California); Harold who married Mille (as per death cert) and Digby.  Also death record for Ethel May Worsley (who married Fred Brender) who died in Los Angeles in the 1960s.  Thanks!

Many thanks for this Sandra.  I'm in touch with most of the other tree holders but nobody who is as close a relative.  The search goes on for the rest of the siblings details - Lilian Rose (Ethel May's younger sister) who also went to America.  I have traced her around Seattle and then LA but haven't been lucky so far with her final(?) marriage and subsequent death in the 1980s.  Thanks again, Samantha
