Janice Happy New Year.  I have found and visited the other tree limb to the Tierneys.  I found out that Micheal Tierney and his wife came to Canada from Ireland and that they were given a land grant in Oshawa where they had to stay for 2 years, grow and live on this land then they could sell it and move to where they would like.  Since we know the children were born in 1860 to 1863 in Oshawa I thought I could find this particular thing out.  Have a looky I do appreciate it and I will look at the sites you gave me as well.   Thanks again for your help

I wish I did.  That is what I was trying to find out.  I figured if I could google Michael Tierney and Oshawa in the government files around 1860 I would find the place.  Just a thought.  Then I thought maybe I should be doing this through England or Ireland, since it would be the queen or king who would give the land grants.

The information would be here in Ontario for the grants.  Do you have any birth information, maybe it gave the address, even if you could get a close proximity might help  :-\

Karen, all we know is that Michael Tierney (Tearney) was born 1819 about.  He died December 27th, 1899.  I did find something useful about the Tierney's.  ORginally Tierney was spelled Tearney.  Rather interesting.
