Hello and greetings for the New Year, Could any one help please. NY's resolution! To find my grt grt grandparents marriage certificate. I believe them to be married about 1858 in Saintfield they were Catholics I think. I know that Michaels father is listed as Edward on some documents I have.
If you could point me in the right direction. I would really appreciate this. I have put this off since 2005!
Many, many thanks

If they were Catholic and married in Ireland in 1858 (or anytime before 1864) there will be no civil registration of the marriage so you will need to locate the church marriage record (of it still exists). To find the church records you need to know where they lived (wedding usually took place in the bride's church)- parish if not townland- and then see what records are available.

Thank you for your response. This is why we can never trace our Irish background to well. I guess I need to ask which Catholic Church was in Existence in Saintfield in 1858.
I shall google Saintfield and see what comes up. Thank you for your time. If they weren't Catholic could you tell me where I would find the info then please.
Thank you for your time

If it was a non-Catholic marriage 1845- onwards it will come under civil registration and the church should also have a record.

Hello again excuse my ignorance here. I have spent a fair bit of time online tonight trying to find a Catholic Church in Saintfield. I have seen a photo of one but with no name attached just RC Church. I have looked through a couple of Saintfiled sites. Where will I find the name of it please. Also who do I get in touch with, is it the same for Non Catholic Churches as well. I know of the place in Roscammon. I was advised that the info that we have, that they were probably married in Saintfield about 1858. I don't have an address for either as they moved many times by the looks of things. Couple of Children were born in Belfast but my great gran was born in Saintfield. I believe my grt grt grandfather Michael Henry was from Newry and his father was an Edward.Henry / Hendry.
Thank you for your much appreciated help. If it was the UK I could cope and find by looking at freebmd etc. The fact its ireland I don't know where to look. I am sorry to be a pest!

Had a bit of bother locating name of church. Found photo (no name) but church looked too recent. 1910 R.C. church in Saintfield was on Main St. with Rev. Father Shields there.
Then found this site with old photo:

Might be other information on the site also.
