Catherine NORTON - Tip IRL to Goulburn NSW

Hi everyone,

Hope this is in the right spot. I've found a Catherine NORTON in the Ancestry One World Tree. Parents are Patrick Norton & Mary Egan. I am very confident that this tree has people in common with my family tree but cannot find who Catherine belongs to and how to contact them. Details below:

Name: Catherine NORTON
Sex: F
Birth: 1840 in Tipperary, Ireland
Death: WFT Est. 1868-1934

Father: Patrick NORTON b: WFT Est. 1788-1817
Mother: Mary EGAN b: 1803 in Tipperary, Ireland

Marriage 1 John Robert DAVIS b: 1838 in Tyrone, North Ireland
Married: 1861 in Goulburn, N.S.W. Australia
Children: Edward Patrick DAVIS b: 1864 in Wagga Wagga, N.S.W. Australia

From Patrick Norton's death Cert (1864) I know that there were 2 boys living and 5 girls living. I have 2 of the girls - Bridget & Ellen - but not the other 3. I think that this Catherine was born to the parents prior to emigrating to Aus.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I would be most grateful.

I see what you mean 
I clicked on the source information for that record on ONe World Tree, and two family trees came up, exactly the same, but no contact information (actually, for contact, both say "unknown")

I wonder if it's worth contacting Ancestry (maybe the .com.au version) and asking them?

Thanks for that Prue. I'll try it and let you know how it goes. It's frustrating because indications are that it is the same family. Aaaaarghh!

I'm dealing with the same issue myself.

Unfortunately some of the trees seem to be old and contact with the owners is no longer possible which is frustrating. One World records are the most confusing and vague and I haven't been successful so far in contacting the owners    I found ten trees with the same info that match mine and every tree was exactly the same with the same owner

No worries mab!! It' is really frustrating.

I should probably get a reply from the Ancestry people by Christmas (only joking - they'll hopefully reply by the weekend).

I've also posted a message on the Ancestry boards, so I'll see what happens.

Hey Julie 

Some of the info is dicey but some of it is spot on so I would really like to know who they are and where they got the information. If it's correct it will save me a lot of work  I'm dealing with my OH's tree and I have One World Trees with data on his Paternal and Maternal side which I struggled to get and there it is......and BEYOND  Do I trust it though...that's my issue. That's why I'd like to get in touch with the owners. Just to verify the data  I'm a doubting Thomas I guess

Hi mab,

I know exactly where you're coming from.  This particular info is something I can almost taste, the facts are sooooo close. I really hope something comes from email to Ancestry because I'm about ready to do something drastic - like pour a glass of wine or something like that!

It's a pity that the registry back then just put "Two boys living, Five girls living" on my g-g-grandfather's death cert, instead of the names & ages as they did with my grandfathers death cert. It would have made things a lot easier.
