Thomas ARMSTRONG **Complete**
« on: Thursday 10 January 08 16:25 GMT (UK) »
I have a Thomas Armstrong supposedly b. 5/09/05 Dornock. DFG.

My problem is that I cannot trace this birth. Have just been on Scotlands People & spent a fortune with no concrete out come & am now out of credits & tearing my hair out!!. The only birth which comes close is this one:-

Thomas Armstrong b. 25/06/1905 Hutton & Corrie, DFG. Parents Thomas ARMSTRONG & Mina ARMSTRONG (nee GLENNDINNING).

I hold no further historical info on Thomas, except to say that he appears on an  birth cert, as the Father.

Hello Falkryn,

Thanx for the warm welcome.

Had seen the birth you mention & have even printed off  the entry itself but sadly ruled it out because of the date. I deduced that the place may be incorrect but my shot in the dark is that the date could be spot on ie 5th Sept 1905. Probably wrong though but I'm usually good with intuitive hunches!

I searched on the whole of Scotland for the SRI births for 1905 & came up with six entries......... I looked at the actual entries on all of these bar one 465/A0 0209 Alloa Clackmannan, as I not only ran out of credits but deduced it was to far away unlike the others.

Thanx again from a still tearing my hair out Sweetfannyadams  ;)

Sadly, Scotland's people only throws up four males named Armstrong born in Dornock between 1890 and 1907 , none of whom are named "Thomas".

Going slightly further back the 1901 census has a 16 yr old Thomas Armstrong who was born in Dornock living/working in Kirtleside as a farm servant ... this would give him a birthdate around 1885 .... quite a bit older than your original man.

Thanks very much for your help once again.

It would be all to easy to make it fit but I think that that's a spot of wishfull thinking on my part. I believe, however, that the 1905 birth year is close but a guesstimate. It could also be that this middle name was Thomas by which he was commonly 'known as'?

I do hate a mystery...........& Regards
