Hello Everybody
I am trying to do a favour for a friend of mine with his research. he is trying to Find a James Buckie who was born in Scotland around 1870 or just before but died in London, just before the birth of his daughter in 1889 Islington.
he was supposed to have been drowned in the river thames.
daughters name was Alice warman Buckie. I have no info on the name of his wife I'm afraid.
Can anybody help please.

Can't find a birth reg for Alice Warman Buckie

There is an Alice buck of correct age in 1891 with widowed mother Mary Ann age 47 -and lots of other children

There is this death
June qtr 1898
Hackney
Robert Buck
b.abt 1870
age 28
1b 245

do you have any record of Alice?

Hi Suz
Thanks for that, no I dont have any info on Alice at all, but I have just found a birth for a James Buckie 3may 1868 Walthamstow essex, with a father Robert Buckie just wondered if that was the one, I'm afraid that i dont know a lot about the family, but my friend is very sure that James died by drowning in the thames just before the birth.

Hi Suz
I know how you feel, I lose the plot quite a lot.
I dont think that my friend has it right because I am finding a lot of Buckie's in England and London, so will just have to find the connection with Alice.
I just have that Alice warman Buckie married  Arthur Dewbery Walters, thats a bit more I think, but would love to know where James got himself Drowned and when that is a mystery.

I wonder if your frien has names dates mixed up?

This is a long shot -but there is this marriage

Sept qtr 1887
Islington
Arthur Dewbury Walters (not Newbury)
1b 438

Problem is there are 2 males and 1 female on page - female is Annie Devonish

but

there is also this marriage reg
Sept qtr
Islington
there are 3 females and 2 males on page
one of females is Jessie Buckie
1b 433

now should Jessie Buckie's ref be 1b 438 not 433?
Easy mistake to make!

So could it have been Arthur Dewbury Walters who married Jessie Buckie had daughter Alice
and was it relly Arthur Dewbury Walters who drowned ???

I'll have a little dig around

Hi All
I think that you are right Suz with the names and dates, it is the Buckie that he is looking for so it must be the Jessie and I think that the fathers name was the James that he is looking for and he was the one that was drowned in the Thames, I'm still digging as well but it is hard to find without all the info that he has also the other problem is that I am in France and he is in England so getting hold of him is not easy. ok and the drowning took place just before 1870 because he died just before the birth of his daughter, so it was say 1869 to 1870 give or take three months Lol, why I have started all this I dont know because I am having probs of my own with my tree as well still never mind.
