John Buttress m. Mary Ann Matthews - where?? **COMPLETE THX**
« on: Wednesday 16 January 08 14:56 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the marriage of my husband's ancestors John Buttress(sometimes Butteriss or Butters) and Mary Ann Matthews.
John was born in Empingham(Rut) in 1811 and Mary Ann in Lusby(according to her census entry in 1851) in about 1813.
In 1841 they are living in Hundleby and from 1851 onward in Freiston.
Their oldest child, as far as I can see, was born before May 1837 in Swayfield.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Louise

Hi,

Swayfield is in the Beltisloe deanery and according to the 1813-1837 marriage index:

John BUTTRESS & Mary Ann MATHEWS, 23rd May 1836 at Swayfield.

Rover - that's terrific, thank you, thank you!!
This was one of only 3 unidentified marriages amongst my husbands 3x great grandparents so I'm very very happy to be able to fill it in.

Thanks again,
Louise

Thanks so much Kathy, that fits with what i knew of the children.   The next child I knew of is born further north in Lincs.

Really appreciate your help.  Have a great weekend,
Louise
