Lost burial
« on: Sunday 20 January 08 20:51 GMT (UK) »
I have a relative who died in Dingwall.  In fact I have several.

Although I know dates of death, I can't find their burial places.

e.g. 19 Feb 1927 John Stenhouse died in Dingwall, aged 79.  He was living at 7 George street at the time.

And for the life of me, I can't find him.  I've contacted the highland people and they did not know either.  I'm in a bit of a pickle.

Can anyone help me?

 ???

burial records for Mitchell hill cemetery and Fodderty cemetery are held at the service point (Ross House) in Dingwall High Street. their phone number is 01349 868527 - this usually takes you to a switchboard and you would have to request to speak to someone in Dingwall about burial records. Unfortunately, they don't hold burial records for the other cemetery in the town (St. Clements) but there is a published booklet containing monumental inscriptions for it, although i am not sure where you could view it. Alternatively, you might be able to purchase it through genfair...

 Booklet - Ref: HLD-MIB10
St Clement's Kirkyard, Dingwall     £4.50 (excluding p&p)

(this is St Clements only though and would be no use to you if they were buried elsewhere.)

hope this helps a little,
Lorna.
