HANNAY in Reading and Chievely
« on: Thursday 24 January 08 15:50 GMT (UK) »
I cannot find anything more about these lost relatives - can anyone help?

Emily DORSETT b1871, Reading, Berks)  m Frank Francis HANNAY (b1871 Reading, Berks) at St Mary's, Reading, December 1896.

They may have had a daughter, Kathleen - poss born 1903? in Berkshire.

In 1916, Frank gave his address as the Post Office in Chievely, Berks, when he signed his mum's death certificate.

That is it. Don't know what happened to them. Can't find anything after 1916. I 'd be grateful for any snippets - or suggestions that I could follow up - can't see the family on any emigrant passenger lists - but can't find deaths of either in England. Where did they go?

Yours in hope

Pat W

I can find Frank all the way back to 1871 in the census (he was 9m in 1871), but still can't find him in 1901.

I'll keep looking !

Hi

From the Berkshire Burial Index - burials in Cheivley

Frank Hanney was buried 6th Jan 1949 aged 78
Emily Elizabeth Hanney buried 2nd May 1955 aged 84

there is also a Frank Victor Hannay buried 16th Jan 1986 aged 79
and
Marion Edith Hanney 22nd Nov 1978 aged 77

So they didn't go anywhere

Thank you, thank you, thank you, I have been looking for ages and did not know there was a Berks burials index. Must have been a family breach and no emigration at all.

Thanks once more to everyone, my evening is made. I can mark this COMPLETED. Hurrah.
