Deciphering place name on census
« on: Thursday 24 January 08 23:31 GMT (UK) »
The census clip below states parish of Eastwood in the first box, but what does it say in the second box?
My elusive Barbara Baillie (nee Oliver or Oliphant) died sometime between this census and 1859 when Thomas married again (by which time he was in Ayrshire).  Can't find her grave or any other record of her death.

Searching Wood, Baillie, Todd, Oliver/Oliphant, Laurie, Duncan, Erskine, McAlpine
Baillie; Laurie; Gordon/Gorman; Quinn; Erskine; Duncan

Thanks for this.  Do any of you local folks know if the church (a UP church, an original Secession church) still exists in King Street Pollokshaws?  - or a graveyard nearby?

I am in England and won't be up in Scotland until Easter time.
