Thanks for that Nell, it does get complicated.  Perhaps they were born before they married then.

I'm pleased with the info about Williams birth though, looks like we were right on that one.

Good stuff Little Nell - whats the resource you have - online or yours ?

 :)

So the William baptised 29 March 1840, Corhampton isnt likely to be the chap in Chilbolton, aged 2 ?

So maybe the William aged 1 in Corhampton is in fact William and Elizabeths grandson - and Sarah has 'claimed' him by 1851 ?

In the burials, I spotted

page 8 no 59 Elizabeth MARSH  Corhampton  March 25 1841 aged 60
page 11 no 81 William MARSH   Corhampton  July 21 1845 aged  67

so maybe there was a previous Elizabeth/William Marsh couple whom the earlier children belonged to? :P

Not online.

Seems an obvious conclusion to draw, except the births are spaced typically for a family.  But definitely worth bearing in mind.

I did check for any other marriages in Hampshire for a William Marsh and Elizabeth, but could not immediately see anything.

Thanks all for your thoughts.   I have been out all day, just come in to find your latest messages.
I am getting really confused now, with a possible two William and Elizabeths.
