Birth lookup - please - if possible
« on: Tuesday 29 January 08 21:29 GMT (UK) »
Hello from Oz.  I have a g.g.grandmother - Victoria Anderson born in New Bridge, County Down in or around 1841.   Now her parents were English and the father John Anderson was in the British Army. Mother Jane Anderson - father John Anderson.   Any ideas of where I could look on line to find info?
Any assistance greatly appreciated.   Sue :D

Civil registration of births in Ireland began in 1864 so you need to look for church records (if they still exist). Try looking on LDS site (www.familysearch.org) to see if church records have been microfilmed once you know their religion and where they lived in Ireland.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thank you Otto - possibly the top one could be the mum!  It certainly is the most info I have to date.
So thanks again.  Sue
