Hi.
Assuming Halliday got his christian name from a grandparent's surname, could this couple be the grandparents ?.
Marriage of James Russell to Mary Halliday, on the 13 December 1851, in Newtownards 1st Presbyterian Church.

Regards,
Dixie

It seems very likely. I have one source that told me his paretns were a William Russell and a Mary Jane Gracey. I don't have the record of his birth to confirm that, it is supposedly November 1866 in Drumgor.
Thanks for the lead and information.
Dixie, what is the source for that record?
Otto, I am certain that the marriage record is correct, Eliza's brother David Henry was married in the same church so the family must have been members as well as the brides family. Wasn't it customary for people to be married in the brides church?
I am hoping to find a descendant and connect with them. I would like to see what information they have on the Orr's especially.
I love genealogists, they are so generous!

Hi Cindy.
William Russell married Mary Jane Gracey, on the 2 November 1866, in Seagoe Church of Ireland, Seagoe, Lurgan.
Seagoe is between Lurgan and Portadown.
If these are the parents of Halliday, then the Russell / Halliday marriage I posted has to be wrong, as there is only 15 years between the marriages.
Both marriages are from Emerald Ancestors website, a very helpful resource.

hi Dixie
Thank you for the tip about Emerald Ancestors, I didn't know about it. Maybe James was an older brother?
Thank you for the information on William and Mary Jane.

Hi there Cindy

Mary Jane Gracey is definitely one of my lot - we were all from Drumgor.

The Christian name Halliday comes from Mary Jane's Dad - Halliday Gracey.

This christian name is fairly common in my family line right up to this day.

Check out my webpage - for more information and dates.

Hello Cameron

Thank you for writing! I am interested in the family of Halliday Russell and Elizabeth Orr. They had children Kathleen, Molly, Fred and Cecil. I don't have dates of birth or marriages for the children and am wondering if they emigrated or have descendants still in the Lurgan area.

Thanks Cindy
