Hi River

The 2 children older than Frances in the house -  John 7 (1844)  and WIlliam 6 (1845)  -are they not children of both Isaac and Ann? (eg: were the boys not Ann's children?)

Possible - FREEBMD has a marriage transcribed as:
Isss SHARP and one of the brides is: Ann RIDGEWAY - Jun Qtr 1842 Whitehaven

BIRTH John SHARP - Jun Qtr 1843
BIRTH William SHARP - Sep Qtr 1844

Cheers

Might also be worthwhile mentioning - Ann was born abt 1815-ish, Castletown, Isle of Man.

Can't find a registration for the birth of Franc*s SHARP*  in Whitehaven, though (unless I missed it )??

Hi River
FREEBMD
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/

Searching "Ellen BARROW" born btw 1881 and 1891 all England, the only obvious fit Ellen J BARROW of the Census , is certainley Ellen Jane BARROW  registered Jun Qtr 1889 Whitehaven.

The 1891 Census for Whitehaven -  as you say, has Frances & Robert's youngest daughter (on that Census) as Ellen J age 2 as born Castle Town, Isle of Man.  The word definitely "Town" though it does look like "Lowa"  because of the the way the enumerator writes his capital T's and the "n" is bit blotted.

I think the POB for Ellen J in 1891 is in error - and it should have been a ditto to indicate Whitehaven....... Frances' mother, enumerated (correctly) as Mother-in-Law  Ann SHARP age 77,  is enumerated immediately after Ellen but there is no Place of birth written nor a ditto for Ann. Just a single vertical line. The enumerator's copied the family data into these sheets from their household schedules - sometimes they made errors and wrote the right things in the wrong places!!

Cheers  ;D

Hi

Isaac Sharpe (Widower) married Ann Ridgway (Spinster) at St Nicholas' Church, Whitehaven 15 June 1842.  I'll check details tomorrow if I can.
