William I P A Stevens, Rathmines, 1861. Where next?
« on: Tuesday 05 February 08 13:53 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I am brand spanking new to the Irish side of research so I have no idea what is available and whether I can take research any further back.

I am looking for a William Isaac Patrick Alouisahas Stevens (thats how its spelt onhis daughters marriage certificate, anyway), who I think was born in c.1861 in Rathmines, Dublin, if I have found the right person on the English census.

If anyone could find any more records of him, I would be most grateful

Thanks

Glen

1911 census for Dublin is now online in case William was living there:
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search

Civil registration of birth in Ireland started 1864 so daughter's birth certificate should list names of both parents.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The marriage of William Isaac P Stevens in Hampstead in 1890 will no doubt give his father's name.

Thanks for the link Aghadowey. It looks like he was in London in 1906 for the birth of his daughter, but no ideas whether he travelled back and forth.
On his daughters marriage certificate in 1934 he is listed as a retired soldier.

Thanks Adrian, I will have to order that one to get further back.
