George Langridge
« on: Saturday 08 January 05 16:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi, This is my first time on here so please be gentle with me. :D

I am looking for the parent/parents of George Langridge who married Sarah Holford 20 Jul 1790 I think Horsted Keynes. Sarah was baptised abt 1806, sorry no dates for George.

It is quite probable that George had a sister Elizabeth who also married a Holford as the witnesses at the marriage of Elizabeth were Jane, George and Stephen Langridge as well as William Holford.
Hope this extra bit helps more.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

 ;D

Hi Lizzieloop

Welcome to RootsChat.

There are several George Langridge baptisms in Horsted Keynes showing on the IGI at:
http://www.familysearch.org/

It is difficult to know which one he might be until you can find one with a sister Elizabeth and possibly a Stephen, since he was also a witness.  Any other info which may help - do you know when he died and how old he was?

By the way most of the witnesses at George and Sarah's marriage were Holfords.

Hi Nell, Thanks for replying. I checked IGI but was totally unsure of which one it might be - I decided against quite a few of them due to age and/or place they were baptised/born. I dwindled it down to a few but still not sure which one, I was hoping someone out there would have a magic wand and would just happen to have him in their tree also.

I have no other dates apart from what I have put on.

Will carry on hunting.

Thanks again for trying.

Hi Lizze,
had a look on the Sussex Marriage index for you, there are loads of marriage's for Langridge in Horsted Keynes, but this looks like the sister's marriage,

 From the Sussex Marriage Index:
Horsted Keynes, West Sussex,  Date: 20 May 1790:
 Elizabeth LANGRIDGE
 John HOLFORD, botp (B)

Many thanks Jane - all I need now to put the icing on the cake is someone who can shed light on the parents of the George Langridge that married Sarah Holford.

Many thanks again.  ;D

Lizzie, have you tried the family search online IGI for likely baptisms for George Langridge?
I think you got Sarah's date wrong...you said she was baptised 1806, after her marriage with George? ;)

Hi Jane.
Yes I was a little iffy about her baptism but, as you know some didn't get baptised until years after their birth so I need to double check it anyway.

I have checked IGI and dwindled the Georges down but, I am just not 100% sure which one it is - my favourite one would have been that George was about 38 when he married and the place wasn't really right.

Thanks again

Lizzie,
Opps, I see that yes, of course she could have been baptised as an adult.
What about looking for a will or two at PRO? I've had great success at identifying relationships through these.
